NewsIncrease in the minimum wages for free zones workers

The National Wages Committee held a session the past Tuesday April 11, 2023, and set forth a 20% increase in the minimum wages of the workers for industrial free zones, divided in two stages:

(1) A first stage with immediate application as of May 2023, equivalent to 15%, for a minimum wage of RD$16,000.00.

(2) A second stage with application as of April 2024, equivalent to the remaining 5%, for a minimum wage of RD$16,700.00

The minimum wage for industrial free zones is set at RD$13,915.00 since 2021, and recently a staggered increase was approved for the non-sectorized private sector. The authorities informed that there would be a wage review for the other sectors soon.
